Winter Clothing Campaign
As the weather changes, and the cold winter months approach, the Rotary Club of Guelph Trillium in partnership with the Clothing Closet, encourages you to sort through your wardrobes and donate winter clothing, so that someone else can benefit from its warmth during the cold months ahead.
Now in its third year, the winter clothing campaign will be launching on October 15, right after Thanksgiving and running to the end of October.
“This year we are pleased to announce that we are partnering with the Guelph Public Library as well as three local businesses in Guelph, that have kindly agreed to serve as drop-off locations for people wishing to donate new and/or gently-used coats, jackets and winter clothing,” shares Anne Day, past president of the Guelph Trillium Rotary.
The drop-off locations are
- Guelph Public Library, Main Branch, 100 Norfolk Street,
- K Cleaners, 150 Kortright Road West,
- Original Home Furniture Store, 259 B Woodlawn Road West, and
- Sealy Karate, 10 Speedvale Avenue East.
The Clothing Closet works out of the New Life Church, 400 Victoria Road North, Guelph and is open Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. for shopping and Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. for donations. Clothing is provided free of charge.
“There is a growing need for our service, and in the last year alone we have served over 1,000 people, many of whom are new to Canada, and don’t have suitable clothing to tackle our winters,” comments Lisa Burke, Co-ordinator of The Clothing Closet.
In the past, people have been very generous and we ask you to continue this tradition and donate clean winter clothing for children, men and women. The drop-off boxes can be found at the locations mentioned above.
