This is a very exciting chapter in the Guelph Public Library’s history. After extensive community consultation and needs analyses, and in anticipation of substantial population growth across the city, the Library and the City of Guelph are working together to build a new Central Library – one that will ensure our community’s vibrancy into the future.

The pandemic has led to a renewed understanding of the unique and essential role libraries play in their communities. Together, we’re keeping people connected, supported, educated and entertained – while narrowing divides, restoring economies and building resilience.

And that’s why we need your help to make our annual campaign a continued success!

This year’s appeal supports Guelph’s new Central Library at a time when libraries are most valued and necessary. As an iconic building in the core of our community, our new Central Library will usher in a new era of Library and social services. Anchoring the Baker District Redevelopment, the new Central Library will revitalize our downtown, reinforce Guelph's collective sense of place, and improve the economic and social prosperity of the entire city.

The new Central Library will have the space to deliver the programs and services that our growing community needs plus increased opportunities for leading edge creativity, collaboration, innovation and community building. With improved accessibility, larger collections, functional areas for staff support, formal and casual special-use areas along with meeting spaces, the new Library will provide exceptional access to resources, more user-friendly ways of delivering services and greater flexibility for future service changes.

We’re seeking funding from visionary partners to ensure a cutting-edge space that will be the pride of our community for generations to come. Gifts will generate the most spectacular return on investment – a future with new discoveries and opportunities which ensures endless ways for people to explore their world, enrich their lives and connect with their community. Benefits that will be felt across the entire city.

It’s Guelph’s story, reimagined and revitalized and we’d love for you to be a part of it. Make your tax-deductible gift today.
