Friday, May 30, 2025, Guelph, ON – Starting June 9, you can join the Guelph Public Library’s Summer Reading Club! Kids, teens, and adults can pick up summer reading packages at any Library location, track their reading throughout the summer, and win a prize during prize draws in July and September.

“Our summer reading programs are a great way to keep children and teens engaged with reading after the school year wraps up,” says Meg Forestell-Page, Manager of Public Services. “The Summer Reading Challenge has something for everyone, and you can use books from our collection to explore the world.”

Children’s Summer Reading Club

Pick up your Summer Reading Club package

Starting today, drop by any library location to pick up your summer reading package which includes a log to track your reading, notebooks, and stickers.

Track your adventures to win a prize

Children up to age 12 can fill out the print or digital reading passport each time they read for 15 minutes or more. Submit completed passports to any Library branch on Monday, July 21 to be entered into the July and September prize draws, or, take your time and submit your passport on Tuesday, September 2 for the prize draw in mid-September.

Winners will be chosen at random. Winners who submitted passports in July will be notified if in early August or mid-September. Winners who submitted passports in September will be notified the same in mid-September. Families can also choose to set up an online account for extra challenges and activities like battle of the books, weekly trivia questions, and book reviews.

Teen and Adult Summer Reading Clubs

Teens and adults can pick up summer reading challenge packages at any library location or download/print the handout from the library’s website.

Complete at least five reading challenges listed. Each book read counts towards one challenge only. Record the book titles you read on the back of the handout and drop it off to any library location or snap a photo of your entry and email it to readingclub@guelphpl.ca by Monday, July 21 or Tuesday, September 2. Random prize draws will be held in late July or mid-September depending on which draw you submitted to. Chances of winning are dependent on the number of submissions received.

If you have any questions about the Guelph Public Library’s summer reading programs, please email readingclub@guelphpl.ca or phone 519-824-6220.
