Ways to donate

There are many ways to support the Guelph Public Library:

Your gift is tax deductible

Our library is a registered charity (CRA number 889091245RR0001). A tax receipt will be automatically sent for donations made through our secure site. Receipts will be mailed for donations made by phone, mail or in-person, where applicable.

What will my gift support?

Public funding supports our library system, while private gifts help us thrive.

Donations help fund priority needs not covered by tax dollars. They fund projects that introduce children to the joy of reading. They help newcomers feel welcome in our community. They allow us to teach technologies to people who don't have them in their homes. They help us deliver outreach services to those unable to visit our locations in person. And, they do so much more. They shape the lives of kids, adults, seniors, and families across our community.

Gifts can be directed towards general or specific library initiatives, as well as our endowment fund. Whether you choose to boost a particular project, give to our endowment, or to our new main library fund, all gifts provide meaningful support to our organization:

One time or directly funded gifts

One-time or directly funded gifts to particular projects or initiatives have important and immediate impacts for our library system. These types of gifts help us fulfill our most pressing needs. They help to provide funding for various projects at our library.

Endowment fund

Gifts invested into the endowment fund - generously created by the Friends of the Library through the Guelph Community Foundation - create a steady income stream for the library. The original gift gets invested and generates interest in perpetuity. These types of gifts ensure the continued strength of our library and provide permanence and a lasting legacy for donors.
