Volunteer

The Guelph Public Library offers a variety of volunteer opportunities. Each position requires different skills and availability. The volunteer programs at Guelph Public Library have varying time commitments.

We offer opportunities for the following age groups:

  • Y = Youth in grades 7-12
  • A = Adults 18 and over
  • F = Families, including youth in grades 7-12
Current Volunteer Opportunities

Visiting Library Service 

  • (A) Deliver library materials to the homes of people using the Visiting Library Service using contactless delivery.

Born to Read

  • (Y) (A) Assemble Born to Read package materials. 
  • (A)Deliver Born to Read packages to the Guelph General Hospital. 
Occasional Volunteer Opportunities

Teen Advisory Group (TAG)

The Guelph Public Library's Teen Advisory Group helps to make the library a special place for teens. TAG is a chance to have your say, become involved in your community and meet new friends. Teens living in Guelph entering grades 7 through 12 are eligible to apply.

About

  • Meetings take place at the Main Library, on the second floor, in the Children and Youth Services Department.
  • TAG meets once a month from October to June. The meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month from 4:00-5:00 PM.
  • The application deadline for the 2021-2022 TAG season has passed. We will begin accepting applications for the 2022-2023 season in June 2022. 

Responsibilities of a TAG member:

  • Attend all meetings and be an active participant
  • Suggest ways the library can better serve teens
  • Offer ideas for exciting teen programs
  • Volunteer to plan and run community events
  • Provide feedback about the library's teen collection, including:
    • Books
    • Graphic novels
    • Magazines
    • CDs
    • DVDs
    • Video games
