The Guelph Public Library offers many different devices and hardware for public use. Each item has different borrowing guidelines and can be viewed below.
All locations have internet computers that can be accessed with a valid Guelph Public Library card. Visitors can use internet terminals with a visitor's pass. These computers have Microsoft office 2016, USB slots and CD drives. There are no time limits on the internet computers at the Main Library.
All locations have catalogue computers that can be used to search for library materials and to access our eResources.
The Main Library has Windows 8 laptops and Chromebooks. These laptops can be checked out at the Information desk with a valid Guelph Public Library card. You may borrow the laptops for 2 hours per day.
All branches also have Chromebooks available for loan to Upper Grand District School Board students. The loan period for these Chromebooks is 7 days. Students who wish to borrow one of these laptops require a valid Guelph Public Library card.
All branches have iPads for in-library use. The Main Library also loans Windows Surface tablets. Tablets may be loaned via the Service Desks with a valid Guelph Public Library card. Tablets may be used to access the Guelph Public Libraries WiFi and are loaned for 2 hours per day.
Printers and scanners
Printing is available at all Guelph Public Library locations. The Main Library has a scanning station set up for public use. For more information on these services check out the Printing and Copying page.
The Main Library has microfilm machines available to the public. For more information on these machines go to our Archives page.
You may borrow a Netgear WiFi hotspot from any location to connect multiple devices to the Internet wherever you go. Netgears may be loaned for 1 week.
The Tech Bar is located on the first floor of the Main Library. The Tech Bar is open when the Main Library is open. Hours may vary slightly due to programming or special events.
The Main Library has two 3D printers for use by the public. There is no charge for using the printers. There is a two- hour time limit per person. The first print of the day can be reserved by talking with the Tech Bar staff. For more information, please read our 3D printer rules.
The Tech Bar has one 3D scanner for use by the public.
There is one 3D pen available for use at the Tech Bar.
There is one iMac computer available for use at the Tech Bar. The computer is primarily used for 3D printing.
The Tech Bar has an Oculus Rift available for use by the public. Please view the Oculus Rift Rules and Regulations.
The Tech Bar has a Raspberry Pi station for use by the public.
The Tech Bar has seven Sphero robots that can connect to any smartphone or tablet.
