Available Devices and Hardware
The Guelph Public Library offers many different devices and hardware for public use. Each item has different borrowing guidelines and can be viewed below.
In-library use |
Internet computersComputers may be accessed for 60 minutes sessions. They have been spaced 2 metres apart and will be disinfected between each use. All locations have internet computers that can be accessed with a valid Guelph Public Library card. Visitors can use internet terminals with a visitor's pass. These computers have Microsoft office 2019, USB slots, and the ability to print. Catalogue computersAll locations have catalogue computers that can be used to search for library materials and to access our online resources. LaptopsThe Main Library has laptops and Chromebooks. These laptops can be checked out at the Information desk with a valid Guelph Public Library card. You may borrow the laptops for 2 hours per day. All branches also have Chromebooks available for loan to Upper Grand District School Board students. The loan period for these Chromebooks is 7 days. Students who wish to borrow one of these laptops require a valid Guelph Public Library card. TabletsAll branches have iPads for in-library use. The Main Library also loans Windows Surface tablets. Tablets may be loaned via the Service Desks with a valid Guelph Public Library card. Tablets may be used to access the Guelph Public Libraries WiFi and are loaned for 2 hours per day. Printers and scannersPrinting is available at all Guelph Public Library locations. The Main Library has a scanning station set up for public use. Loanable devices |
WiFi HotspotsYou may borrow a Netgear WiFi hotspot from any location to connect multiple devices to the Internet wherever you go. Netgears may be loaned for 1 week. |
Accessible Computers |
Screen magnification, text narration, and an on-screen keyboard are available on all public computers. There is a large print keyboard and trackball mouse available for use at each library location. For all accessibility features at all branches, please see our Library Locations and Hours page. Alternate formats are available upon request in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act by contacting Library Communications at 519-824-6220 extension 239 or by email. You may also submit the Alternative Formats and Communication Supports Request Form. We will work together with you to best meet your needs as soon as possible. |
