    Main Library Morning Adult Book Club

    Library book clubs meet from September to June. Each meeting last approximately one hour and all members are encouraged to participate equally with their ideas and opinions about the discussed book. Copies of the books for the next meeting will be available for check out at each meeting. For more information or to register, contact bookclub@guelphpl.ca or phone 519-824-6220 x314.

  • Christmas Special

    Three talented Guelph artists are coming together to present "a Christmas Special" evening. Garth Laidlaw, author and illustrator, will display his newest book and artwork. Jay Wilson, actor and puppeteer, will present “Isn' t That The Dickens” a five minute poem and delightful telling of "Twas The Night Before Christmas" written by Clement Clarke Moore, 1823. And entertainment surprises from Pandora's Sox - YES! Pandora and Prometheus will be celebrating Christmas with us!! Singer songwriter, Eric Leigh, will entertain the audience with songs from his newly released album “ The Storm” and a few seasonal favorites too! Join us for this festive event!

    Newcomer Settlement Services

    One-on-one newcomer settlement services and referrals are available at the Guelph Public Library. Settlement counsellors are able to see walk-in clients on a first-come first-served basis, or if clients wish to secure a specific time with a counsellor at either library location, please call Immigrant Services at 519-836-2222. East Side Library: Mondays from 4-6 pm Westminster Square Library: Thursdays from 9:30-11:30 am

At the Library

GPL is more than just books!

The Main Library features a "Teen Lounge" located on the 2nd floor and is equipped with an X-Box 360 and Kinect. There are in-house games to choose from, plus lots more in the library collection. Come for a quick visit or stay all day. The teen section will have you coming back for more!

The Teen collection includes the newest fiction, books on CD, Playaways, non-fiction, magazines, graphic novels, comics, DVDs, music CDs, and video games for Playstation 3, Xbox, and Wii. The Teen eLibrary features downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks, music, magazines, streaming movies and TV shows, as well as access to eResources to help you with projects, all free with your library card!
