Call for Nominations
Guelph Public Library Board of Directors
Deadline for nominations is September 30, 2026
We are issuing this Call for Nominations for Directors for the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors to be appointed by City of Guelph Council in December 2026.
The Guelph Public Library Board is seeking new members from the community to help advance the work of the Guelph Public Library. As momentum builds toward a new Central Branch location, we are looking for residents of all backgrounds to contribute to the next exciting phase of the library. In the coming years, members of the GPL Board will help keep the Central Branch project on track, support innovative programming at the library, and continue to provide good governance for the organization.
To support a well-rounded Board, we are interested in hearing from individuals with experience, knowledge or demonstrated areas such as:
- Finance and Accounting
- Human Resources and labour relations
- Legal, governance and regulatory compliance
- Real estate and Facilities management
We recognized that valuable contribution from both professional expertise and lived experience is important. Applicants do not need experience in these areas to be considered.
If you have little or no Board experience, they can seem daunting. The Guelph Public Library and its Board are committed to reflecting all citizens of Guelph. The library Board is seeking individuals who are:
- Passionate about public libraries and their role in the community,
- Able to think broadly about community needs,
- Respectful of diverse perspectives.
It is important that all members are prepared to attend all Board and committee meetings, review materials and participate actively in Board discussions.
If you are interested in serving on a Board and value our Public Libraries, we strongly encourage you to apply. Board orientation and training will be provided for all new members.
The Guelph Public Library is committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of our community. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, identities, and abilities. We particularly encourage applications from women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, racialized persons, members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, newcomers, and others whose perspectives have been historically underrepresented in governance roles.
If you are interested, please complete the application form below.
