Volunteer Opportunities
Born to Read
The Born to Read initiative strives to introduce literacy to all infants born in Guelph.
- Assemble Born to Read package materials (Adults/Youths grades 7 to12).
- Deliver Born to Read packages to the Guelph General Hospital (Adults)
Visiting Library Service
The Visiting Library Service provides library materials to homebound patrons who are unable to visit the library independently.
- Deliver library materials to the homes of people using the Visiting Library Service (Adults).

Youth Volunteer Group (YVG)
The Guelph Public Library's Youth Volunteer Group helps to make the library a special place for teens. YVG is a chance to have your say, become involved in your community and meet new friends. Teens living in Guelph entering grades 7 through 12 are eligible to apply.
Meetings take place at the Main Library, on the second floor, in the programming room. YVG meets twice a month on the first Tuesday and last Thursday of the month, year round. Please contact teenservices@guelphpl.ca, opens a new window if you have any questions. Applications are accepted all year.
Responsibilities of a YVG member

- Attend all meetings and be an active participant
- Suggest ways the library can better serve teens
- Offer ideas for exciting teen programs
- Volunteer to plan and run community events
- Participate in the reading buddies program
