“Dive In” to the Guelph Public Library’s 2026 Summer Reading Club

The Guelph Public Library is partnering with TD to invite readers of all ages to “dive in” and explore the wonders of water at this year’s Summer Reading Club.

Inspired by the many stories that flow through ponds, lakes, rivers, and oceans, this year’s theme, “Dive In," encourages readers to discover new worlds—whether that’s following the trail of a mysterious message in a bottle or uncovering hidden treasure in long-lost shipwrecks. Starting June 6, Summer Reading Club packages will be available for pickup at all Library locations. Participants are encouraged to track their reading all summer long for chances to win great prizes.

“Our summer reading programs are a great way to keep children and teens engaged with reading after the school year wraps up,” says Meg Forestell-Page, Manager of Public Services. “This year’s Summer Reading Challenge has something for everyone, from daring pirate battles to deep-sea adventures among the fish, so we’re excited for everyone to explore the blue planet amongst the pages of our books.”

Anchors up! Kick-off party on Saturday, June 6

Join us as we set sail for our kickoff party on Saturday, June 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Guelph Public Library’s East Side Branch (1 Starwood Drive).

How to join - Children’s Summer Reading Club

1. Pick up your Summer Reading Club package

Kids under 12 can visit any library location to pick up their summer reading club package or download and print a digital version from home. Each kit includes a reading map to track your summer reading, plus notebooks and stickers to make the journey their own.

2. Track your adventures to enter our prize draws

For every 15 minutes you read, check a gold coin or jewel on your reading map. Completed maps can be returned to any Library branch before Friday, July 24, to be entered into both the July and September prize draws, or take your time and submit your reading map on Tuesday, September 8, for the prize draw in mid-September. Readers are welcome to complete more than one map. A photo of the completed map can also be submitted to readingclub@guelphpl.ca.

July draw winners will be notified in early August, and September draw winners will receive notifications in mid-September. You can also set up an online account at tdsummerreadingclub.ca for extra challenges and activities like battle of the books, weekly trivia questions, and more.

Teen and Adult Summer Reading Club

Teens and adults can pick up their summer reading challenge at any library location or download a digital version from the Library’s website.

Complete at least five reading challenges from the categories provided. Record your titles on the back of the handout, giving each book a star rating out of five. Return your reading log to any library location to be entered into our prize draws on July 24 and September 8. Prizes for teens are generously sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Guelph.
