Gardeners, seed savers, and nature enthusiasts are invited to discover the benefits of native plants and sustainable gardening at Native Plant Seedy Saturday, hosted by the Guelph Public Library in partnership with the Guelph Seed Library (a project of the Guelph Tool Library).
This free community event will take place on Saturday, November 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Library at 100 Norfolk Street and will feature workshops, activities, expert gardening advice, and opportunities to take home free seeds for your garden.
“Programs like Native Plant Seedy Saturday reflect the Library's commitment to creating opportunities for people to learn, connect, and engage with issues that matter in our community,” said Sarah Cozzarin, Children’s Librarian at the Guelph Public Library. “Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just getting started, this event is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and explore ways to support a healthier environment.”
The event will feature workshops that focus on topics like composting and worm farming, incorporating native edible plants into your garden, and sustainable gardening practices.
There will also be activities to enjoy throughout the day designed for all ages, including seed cleaning and saving, arts and crafts, gardening advice clinics, and information booths hosted by local organizations and community partners.
